Hot Takes! - David Johnson and Todd Gurley

In today’s episode of “Hot Takes”, I’m going to be featuring running players David Johnson and Todd Gurley, two back who I think can return to the sure-fire RB1’s they once were and finish within the top 10 in the 2020 fantasy season.

- David Johnson: In shipping DeAndre Hopkins out of Houston, one of the most prolific receivers in the league, for David Johnson, the Texans clearly have big plans for the running back. Johnson finds himself in a backfield with only Duke Johnson, a back would will relieve some pass receiving downs for DJ. The Texans even released Carlos Hyde. DJ will clearly assume 1st, 2nd, and even most 3rd down roles, and most importantly all goal line carries. If he gets enough touches, which he will, DJ should resume his RB1 status and has the ability to finish as a top 10 back, if used as a clear cut workhorse.

- Todd Gurley: Gurley is simply one of the more talented backs in the league. A terrible 2019 Rams offense and injuries kept him back from being the RB1 he can be. He is now the clear cut workhorse in Atlanta after the release of Devonta Freeman, and has essentially no one behind him in the backfield. Freeman was a top 3 back when being the workhorse in this Atlanta offense, and Gurley is only more skilled. If given the touches that Freeman was given and the touches he should be given Gurley should return to his RB1 stardom and could again cement himself as a top 10 back.
