Welcome to my series, “Hot Takes”, where I will be offering a bold prediction for the upcoming season. Today’s episode will be featuring running backs Kenyan Drake and Austin Ekeler, two players who I think can finish as Top 5 RBs (PPR) in the 2020 fantasy season.
Kenyan Drake: After Kenyan Drake’s move to Arizona, he was able to finish as the RB #4 during those final 8 weeks. He averaged a touchdown and over 100 total scrimmage yards per game, while having David Johnson hang onto him by the back of his jersey. Now with David Johnson in Houston leaving Drake as the clear workhorse, there is the ability for Drake to finish as a top 5 back due to the flashes of talent we have seen over the years.
Austin Ekeler: Ekeler is now the clear Chargers lead back. He was able to solidify himself as the RB #2 while operating as such during weeks 1-4 in 2019, only behind the man himself Christian McCaffrey. Even when Melvin Gordon returned from his hold-out, Ekeler still finished as the RB #5 and averaged 5.2 receptions per game in having a total of 68 over the final 13 games of the season. Now as the clear back, Ekeler will only have more involvement in the offense, allowing him to continue to eat up targets and thus offers him top 5 potential.
